What is like 30 years ago and Who are the Filipino millennials today.

30 years ago, life was full of labor and everything has to be done manually. Beauty and health depends greatly on plants that is discreetly growing everywhere, if u are diligent enough to follow the lifestyle of your parents 30 years ago then maybe you are still living healthy today and in terms of Technology in the past, it was simple and not that convenient for it still requires time, effort and of coarse the availability of it in a remote areas.

I used to ask my parents and grandparents questions on what is like to live 30 years ago and i find it really amusing hearing their stories as to how they do things before like their superstitious beliefs of which now i realized some reasons behind it. According to them, life 30 years ago was really hard and at the same time fun. Walking in the mountains, taking a bath in springs, and swimming in a clean rivers are the things they missed the most in their childhood because before, their major source of income is planting different root crops.

Furthermore, Going to school before needs a lot of efforts and dedication because they need to walk long distances and during weekends they sell rice cake ("bingka") or any other foods that they could sell in the market so that they will have allowance when they go to school. Having 1 peso is like heaven for them before because it is like having a 100 pesos today, with this small amount of money you can already buy a lot foods in school.

In terms of technology, cellphones and other gadgets are not usually used before especially in remote areas, radio is the only gadget that gives them entertainment. They listened not just music and news but also they love to listen the radio dramas before.

If you will imagine, life before was simple, healthy, fun, and very adventurous until developments happened and changed everything. Not just the environment of the people but most especially on the lifestyle of humanity. One of the remarkable change as time goes by is the development of technology. Everything that once difficult became easy and that is the world of millennial generation today.

Communication, transportation, jobs, household chores, became easy as one click of your fingers and life span became shorter. If you are going to ask me, who are the millennials today? well for me, they are like bosses and their slaves are the technology. children nowadays no longer experience the fun of childhood. Most of them is fond of staying at home because there is internet, computer, and other gadgets that hinders them to socialize and to play the games that children 30 years ago used to enjoy.

Yes, millennial generation is way too advance compare to the past generations. At early age, they are exposed to different things that develops their cognitive aspects but in exchange the culture that once was cherished can no longer be found in them. The traditions , the manners and the sense of patriotism are just the few things that millennials have forgotten.

At the end of the day, it still depends on the parents and teachers to remind the millennial generation who they are, where they came from and what kind of people will they become in the future, Will they become the kind millennials that promotes the culture and tradition of being a Filipino despite of the rapid development and changes around them? or Will they become those millennials that will choose to conceal their identity just to cope up with the new culture that are trending around the world?
